✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE  | at 17:00

Report from Elding: Being delayed and having to swap boat, we finally made it out of the harbour into beautiful sunshine and calmer weather than the previous tour. During our tour we encountered a lot of bird life around us and even spotted 1 minke whale. As the animal only came up once and disappeared on us, not many of us were able to see this beautiful animal. And even though it was an enjoyable tour, we think we have not met the expectations of our passengers and therefore offered complimentary tickets to all of them, to have the opportunity to come back on another tour with Elding.

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was a bit quieter than this morning, and the sea smoother. Almost all our passengers were outside enjoying the views on the beautiful landscape and learning interesting facts about the seabirds we observed, like the norther gannet, the artic tern or the cute atlantic puffin. We went to the same area than this morning to search the killer whale male spotted during the morning tours, but it might returned with its pod because we didn't find it. The way back to the harbour was very calm with the wind in our back and we enjoyed this pleasant sunny day. Because we were not able to spot any cetacean during this tour, we offered our passengers a complementary ticket, to book a new free trip within the next two years.

Report from Eldey: Winds were not blowing too strong during this tour, however, the sea was a bit rough, but our excellent captain managed to keep the boat sailing smoothly on the waves. We were hoping to spot the orca from the previous tour again, but unfortunately there was no trace of it this afternoon. Searching the bay we headed out towards the Snæfellsness peninsula, facing the wind and the waves. We did see a few seabirds sailing past the boat, but they should remain the only wildlife we got to see during our tour. It was a very relaxed journey back to the harbour with the wind in our back and sunshine in our face. Since we did not see any cetaceans during this tour we offered all our passengers complimentary tickets for another whale watching tour with us for free.

Report from Elding: As it was spotted on an earlier tour, we eagerly awaited to get out of the harbour and experience it ourselves. I gave a quick introduction to our passengers and alerted them to the possibility of excitement. Not 10 minutes after exiting the harbour we saw it. A single adult killer whale cutting the water with its huge dorsal fin. We stayed with the animal in order to have a nice look at the impressive mammal. We left it and went onward into the bay in search of something else. Even though we didn't find any other whales species, we found again the orca next to Hvalfjord. This time it was just us and him. Observing the powerful cetacean on it's way towards the open ocean. It was a nice way to say goodbye to this top predator and head back to the harbour.

Report from Eldey: WOW! That probably describes this tour best. A little overcast and some cold wind was greeting us this morning. Just being out of the harbour and heading into Faxafloi Bay, we received a call from one of our boats, that they spotted 1 orca, also called killer whale, near the islands in the bay. So we took a 180 degree turn and headed back to find the animal. And we got so lucky and started spotting it after just another 15 minutes. First the male animal was very close to the shore, but then managed to find its way out into the bay and we were able to follow it for about 30 minutes. Orcas are rarely seen in Faxafloi Bay and more abundant further north, so it was extra special for all of us to witness this encounter. Having four boats around the animal we decided to leave it alone and continued our tour around the islands, sheltered from the wind and observing all kind of sea birds and got pretty excited about puffins as well. Adrenalin level still high, we arrived back in the harbour with a truly unforgettable memory. Maybe we get lucky to find the animal once more today.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today at 9:00. The weather today is beautiful, but it may be a little rough out at sea. If you are prone to getting sea sick, we do have sea sickness tablets available free of charge at the office and on board. The sun is shining, but make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land.
