 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  19:00

Report from Eldey: Our icelandic adventure started with the wind blowing from the north so we had a tour a bit bumpy. We headed towards Akranes looking at all those northern gannets that we found in our way to our ususal spotting area. At the beginning the strong wind made it difficult but 1 minke whale just showed up in front of us, it was not easy to follow it and we just saw the blow a couple of times more. When we were running out of time and headed back to the harbour another beautiful minke whale appeared and we could stayed for a while. It was magic because came up several times with the amazing midnight sun behind it. So everyone had the opportunity to take great pictures of it.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  17:00

Report from Elding: a really strong sun was still shining high in the sky when we left the harbour. It didn´t warm us up though because the wind from the North was blowing in the area. We were enjoying the beautiful sights of the Icelandic mountains under the summer sun during the whole trip. A blow in the distance took our attention. A minke whale appeared after the blow. It just surfaced again so we didn´t have the opportunity to have a better look. We continued our searching tireless but, unluckily, it was no possible to find any other cetaceans in this trip. Our passengers were happy to hear that the company offered them the chance to come back free of charge in the next two years.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  14:00

Report from Eldey: The weather did not changed much from the previous tours. Though it was a bit windy, the bright skies guaranteed a pleasant view over our surroundings, providing quite an enjoyable ride. Unfortunately, despite the crew greatest effort, it was not possible to have a proper cetacean sighting during this tour. We had a glimpse of a Minke whale, but it was being quite illusive making it impossible to keep track of. This is just the way of Nature. However, since tours like this are uncommon, and we do want to provide our guests the chance to see our whales. Therefore, we offered all our passenger the chance to come back again with us for free on another whale watching tour with us. Hope to see them all back again soon!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  13:00

Report from Elding: This tour was bright and windy like the previous tour. The wind was maybe a little bit stronger, but the captain managed to shelter and orient the boat in a way that it was still pleasant. We enjoy the view on the land scape  and of seabirds under the sun. We saw northern gannets plung diving. Some of those beautiful and white seabirds were still juveniles, wearing brown feathers. We had a quick sight on 4-5 harbour porpoises surfacing next to the boat. Those busy animals desappeared as soon as they appeared. We also saw 2 minke whales, far from the boat, but we couldn't approach them. Thats why we offered our passengers a complementary ticket which allow them to come back for a new free tour in the next two years, in Reykjavik or Akureyri.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  10:00

Report from Eldey: Strong northerly winds of upto 10 m/s and a cold front meant it felt more like winter than summer, brrrrr! We wrapped up warm and sailed close to the coast to gain shelter from the mountains. We felt the wind but the seas were ok and seasickness was minimal. We were most successful today close to the town of Akranes, 1 hour sailing from Reykjavik were we saw at least 4 minke whales, however they were moving so fast and very difficult to follow but we were lucky that there were a few around that at least we could see a few surfaces. Passengers really helping out with the spotting. The highlight of the tour though was a large basking shark that was feeding at the surface and came right next to the boat before it dove and didn´t surface again. We were amazed. The birds were also quite spectacular, gannets plunging into the water from heights of 30m causing splashes everywhere. It was a great wildlife adventure.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE|  09:00

Report from Eldey: We started the journey with a bright sun. The wind from the North kept us awake during the whole trip. It was not difficult to imagine how close to the North Pole Iceland is. We were sailing near the beautiful mountains of Snæfellsnes. With the sun on top of Esja, we could enjoy the colours of this beautiful mountain from the sea. Such a nice view. We were sailing close to Lundey, one of the islands with breeding puffins around Reykjavik and, luckily, we had the chance to see a lot of these really cute tiny birds flying around us. We continued our sailing until we saw a small blow in the distance, followed by a black shape coming up on the surface. Our first minke whale of the day! We were waiting for the animal to breath again but, apparently, it did it somewhere else, out of our sight. We had another 2 minkes with the same behaviour during the following hour. Once we ran out of time, we headed back to the harbour and, in the way, another minke whale appeared really close to us for the pleasure  of our passengers, specially the ones situated on the right side of the boat at that specific moment. It didn't do it again and, due to the short duration of the encounters with the whales and that some people didn't have the chance to spot them, we offered everyone the opportunity to come back, free of charge, during the next 2 years.
