 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 19:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather had calmed down so it was just perfect, and we had a beautiful sunset on the tour. As we sailed past the island Engey, we spotted a pod of about 3-5 harbour porpoises. We then headed further out, and slowed down around Akranes to see if there were any other cetaceans there. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful in our search and so we ended up running out of time, but ofcourse we had our eyes wide open on our way back to make sure not to miss anything. But nature is unpredictable, and unfortunately we didn't find other cetaceans, although we enjoyed the beautiful landscape bathed with the colors of the sunset. We then told our passengers they could come back on another tour for free.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 17:00

Report from Eldey: The sun was especially kind to us on this tour and the sea conditions were pleasant, unlike the fact that this was one of those few tours that the worst possible scenario happened and other than the 3 harbour porpoises, we didn't see any other whale species on this tour. For that reason we gave out complementary tickets to our guests, because we want them to come again for free and try their luck another time.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 14:00

Report from Hafsulan: Today the wind gave us a rest finally. We could feel it a little bit more when we were really far out, but just a mild movement that made us feel us feel the rocking of the waves. The sun was shining and the visibility was perfect. We had all the ingredients to have a great tour. We were sailing calmly throughout the bay, willing to find some animals. We had to be patience but, finally we were lucky. A blow in the distance let us know that we had a whale in the area. We gave the animal a few minutes and out time waiting was rewarded. A minke whale surfaced really close to the boat a couple of times showing us the wonders of wildlife.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions quiet down during this ride, guaranteeing quite a comfortable ride. This journey was a bit challenging since regardless of the crew’s effort, it was a bot difficult to keep track of the animals as they were being quite inconspicuous. After a couple of attempts to observe a minke whale, we finally found a pod of 4 or 5 white beaked dolphins. As these were foraging though, they were traveling quite fast in crossing directions and going for quite long dives. For this reason we could not hold on to them for too long. Once we were on our way to the harbour and by the point where even the crew was about to call it quits, we got saved by the bell when we spotted a minke whale quite close to our vessel! This one seemed to be comfortable around us and as it was moving on a straight line it made it easy for us keep to its pace, allowing to spend a  satisfying period of time with it. What a pleasant surprise!

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 10:00

Report from Hafsúlan: A sunny day out in Faxafloi today was making everyones spirits high. And winds having calmed down in comparison to the last days meant that we were not restricted on which areas to sail to. So, chosing the middle of the bay, we encountered a minke whale after a bit over an hour. It was very elusive and staying under water for long sequences, so we moved on towards the eastern part of the bay. Here we spotted another 2 minke whales amongst some diving gannets! One of them surprised us when it came up less than 20 meters in front of us, letting us hear it's powerful exhale. A good start into the day making us keen to see what will happen on the next tours.

 TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Eldey: It's another sunny day again and the sea has calmed down from in comparison with yesterday. We sailed out for an hour before we saw a minke whale that might have actually been two minke whales at the end. We managed to have several nice, close looks at the animal(s), catching us by surprise. There was also a white-beaked dolphin seen in the distance on this tour, but it was playing hide and seek with us... and it was winning. All in all a lovely little tour.
