'Our' Right Whale RESIGHTED in France!

On 23 July 2018, for the first time in Elding's history, we came up on a north atlantic right whale - one of the most endangered of all large whales. There have only been three different right whales identified off Iceland in the last 30 years, so this was truly a unique encounter!

The whale was positively identified by The Anderson Cabot Center for Ocean Life as: "Mogul a 10 year old male born to Slalom in 2008.". According to his sighting history, he seems to have spent most of his life around Georgia, Florida, Cape Cod Bay and the Bay of Fundy before crossing the Atlantic Ocean.

On 24 June 2019, Mogul was spotted once again but this time near the French coast! Perhaps this means he is on his way back to Iceland?! It's so interesting to be able to follow these whales around the world!
