Report from Eldey: It was a crispy cold winter’s night with some wind as we sailed out on our mission to find the northern lights. We got to a more sheltered place near Mt Esja blocking us from the wind and our passengers got dressed up in warm overalls and were ready to enjoy the night. Sky was clear and the forecast looked promising and very soon we started seeing what looked like a white stripe of clouds to the naked eye but turned out to be green on the camera screen: northern lights starting! We were waiting for them to get brighter while enjoying the star studded sky and the first supermoon of 2020 shining bright. Unfortunately, the northern lights never got brighter and visible to the naked eye but faded out completely after a little while without start again. Chasing natural phenomena such as Aurora Borealis sometimes requires a lot of persistence and we hope to see our passengers trying again on another cruise with us thanks to the complimentary tickets that were given out to our passengers valid for the next two years.
