Report from Eldey and Hafsúlan: We sailed out with two boats this afternoon due to an abundance of eager passengers. We left the harbour with calm sea and no wind. It took us no more than 10 minutes to find our first cetacean, a minke whale. Must be feeding on the plentiful food we seem to have close to land lately. It looked to be a small individual that surfaced many times for us all to get a great look. We left it in peace and went further. Eldey to the south and hafsúlan to the north. Both boats searched a vast area but in the end it was the minke whale that saved the day, which we saw again at the end of the tour and watched it for a little longer under the fluffy white snow. It was a great finish and everyone left with smiles on their faces.

Report from Eldey: Beautiful day to be out today! The tour started under the magical light of the Icelandic sunrise. The wildlife woke up with us: flocks of eider ducks, all kinds of gulls, some northern divers joining our path as we were sailing into Faxafloi. During our tour we faced some swell coming from the storms outside Iceland, and for those who were afraid of getting seasick we provided a free sea sickness tablet. On our way we saw in total 10-15 harbour porpoises pop up every now and then, being elusive as they usually are. It took us about 2 hours but we found a beautiful pod of about 6 white-beaked dolphins that got very close to our boat, and passengers could even see them through the windows of the cafeteria! The tour gave us one last surprise, a very elusive minke whale found just 10 minutes away from the harbour that just a few lucky passengers could see before disappearing. What a nice winter sail we had this morning!

Birds seen on today's tours include: common guillemot, razorbill, northern fulmar, great cormorant, eider duck, kittiwake, black-headed gull, black-backed gull, iceland gull, northern diver, snow bunting, red-breasted merganser, red-throated divers.
We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today for the tour at 09:00 and 13:00. There is always be some movement out on the bay, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office.
