Report from Eldey: Wonderful winter afternoon what we had today! The starting of the tour was amazing with some good winds and sunshine joining our path. The outside deck was properly cold, but the warm and cozy overalls that we provide were enough to fight winter back. Close to Reykjavik flocks of eider ducks and fulmars, and even northern and red throated divers were welcoming us into Faxafloi. But the true welcome came afterwards, when not one but two humpback whales started to blow around us. The encounters were extra close. We put our gear to the minimum and enjoyed what was a fascinating show of flukes, blows and big black backs that were having an open buffet of fish. The wonders never stop here in Faxafloi when you join Elding cruises!

Report from Eldey: This is how we love our tours. Sunshine, calm seas, winter scenery, birdlife AND humpback whales! Even if you were tired this morning, everyone was awake after the tour. We initially started our search where we had been seeing whales the last two days, close to Reykjanes. Well, nature did not want to play that game. Not seeing any signs of whales around, we could see plenty of birds on the other side of the bay, along Snaefellsnes. And that was our clue - heading towards Akranes, we spotted two very distinctive blows! So exciting to see that both the humpback whales that we have had in the bay since February 25th are still around and seemingly feeding together. One of the two individuals was very comfortable around us, coming within just an arms length of our bow. A real whale close up. The entire tour was so pleasant, we simply sat back and enjoyed our last half hour of sailing with sunshine on the face and music accompanying it.
