✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 13:00

Report from Elding: It was a difficult tour to decide whether or not to cancel as the wind was meant to increase, however the captain and managers of our company are very experienced in reading the weather and came to the conclusion it was safe to go out on this excursion. It turned out to be a very nice tour, two humpback whales and a very playful pod of about 4 white-beaked dolphins that played under and around our vessel and also tormented one of the humpback whales which was very amusing to watch as the humpback slapped its pectoral fins on the surface to try and get rid of pesky annoying animals. The birdlife was also very nice, puffins, guillemots, shearwaters, gannets, fulmars and seagulls joined in with the adventure.

✔ TOUR ON SCHEDULE | 09:00

Report from Elding: The wind has been a bit relentless these last days and also accompanied us this morning. Waves were giving us an adventurous sail, with water crashing on the bow. But having been warned beforehand, our passengers were keen for the adventure. We sailed for around an hour until we began to see a lot of birdlife, thus deciding to slow down and take our time for spotting. This ended up in a successful sighting of 2 minke whales feeding alongside around 50 northern gannets. It was spectacular to see these birds diving around us and the minke whales coming up underneath them. A fun morning in Faxaflói.

-Sabrina Voswinkel

Birds seen today include: atlantic puffin, northern gannet, northern fulmar, arctic tern, arctic skua, manx shearwater, black backed gull, common guillemot.

We are sailing from the Old Harbour in Reykjavík today for the tour at 09:00 and 13:00. We are expecting the wind to pick up a bit as the day goes on, so the sea will be a bit choppy, so if your are prone to sea sickness we have sea sickness tablets available at our ticket office. Make sure to dress warmly and make use of our warm overalls as it is always colder on sea than on land. For more information contact us by email elding@elding.is or by phone +354 519 5000.
