CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:OO

Report from Eldey: After a day of having the ship docked in port, it is pleasant to be able to go out to sea. The day dawned extremely cold, with good visibility, but with some whitecaps that made sighting difficult. After 30 minutes of leaving the port, our first sighting came: a group of 4 harbor porpoises. It looked like they were traveling. We kept looking and searching and found several flocks of birds. We were inspecting the area to see if there were any nearby cetaceans but it was not on this occasion. So we continued our tour enjoying an Icelandic experience with extremely beautiful landscapes. As we believe that we can offer a better experience to our guests, we offered them a complementary ticket so that they can have another opportunity to see these wonderful creatures that are cetaceans.

PREMIUM WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from RIB : If it looked nice and calm in the harbour, it was choppy and a bit windy in the bay. We went far away and found a few flocks of active birds. We looked around hoping that whales would surface in the surroundings but unfortunately it did not happen. There was many common guillemots and razorbills on the water going on dives. We thought that we saw a minke whale two times during the tour, but when we tried to approach we could not find it. We went more to the south were the sea was nicer looking everywhere but unfortunately we had to turn back without seeing any whale. We gave our passenger a complimentary ticket to come back on a Classic Whale watching tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: The afternoon gave us a softer sea, with better visibility than the morning. We left the port warmly dressed in our overalls. We started looking and spotted several flocks of birds that seemed to be feeding. We inspected them just in case but there were no whales in sight. We kept looking and crossed our path a group of chubby, beautiful harbor porpoises. There were 5 in number. Not long after we could see jumps in the distance. They were white-beaked dolphins. At first only one jumped, but shortly after several began to jump at the same time. As we got closer we could see various behaviors, at first they swam slowly, then they had quite erratic behavior as if they were looking for food, shortly afterwards some individuals started jumping again. They were about 6 individuals. One of them was extraordinarily curious, it even came over and inspected our guests surfacing near the boat. After enjoying their presence for a long time, we began our return home. Some tourists decided to have a hot chocolate while admiring the views of Reykjavik from the sea. A wonderful day to remember!
