Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. Masks are not mandatory but are recommended in areas where keeping distance from others is not possible.

The seas may be rough, so as always, we have sea sickness tablets available free of charge at our ticket office.

Report from Eldey: Starting out with a gray sky and moderate rain may not be everyones favourite weather, but being that it was just above freezing point temperatures it was not so bad for Iceland. About 40 minutes sailing away we saw a huge blow at the distance, we slowed down to check the area carefully but couldn't spot any signs of cetaceans. So, we continued sailing and suddenly a minke whale crossed our paths with us. It was moving pretty fast and some of our guests could appreciate it two or three times surfacing, probably chasing after the fish. A little extra challenge to keep up with this whale but nevertheless a very nice encounter. We continued sailing and a humpback whale showed up. This incredibly large whale perfomed long dives as we approached. It was very relaxed around the boats and showed up numerous times. We barely couldn't see its blow as it was breathing completely relaxed, maybe sleeping. Everyone left very happy with their encounter with the large humpback whale. It was a beautiful morning exploring the wondering of the bay.

Report from Eldey: The weather was changeable this afternoon, as the lows came and went bringing stronger winds and rain one minute and clearer skies the next. The suns rays tried to fit through the clouds, offering some beautiful colours and patterns. We saw two species today, 2 humpback whales and 2 pairs of white-beaked dolphins. They were all little challenging, diving for long periods of time and constantly changing direction but we saw them many times at least but our patience was definitely tested as we waiting for them to surface in weather conditions that were not fun to be in. We were all determined though and stayed scanning the waters surface as we waited. A nice tour in the end especially with a nice hot drink in the hand.
