Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: What a beautiful morning to start our day, we sailed out towards the almost full moon (full moon yesterday) and as the sun rose more and more colours filled the sky. The sun finally peaked over the mountains at about 10:30am but there was plenty of light beforehand. We searched all the areas and more from yesterdays encounters but the only glimpse we saw of cetaceans was the splashes of about 4-5 harbour porpoises in the glare on the sun. It was a shame we didn’t see more but at least we had a beautiful morning. We offered our passengers complimentary tickets in the hope they can have better luck next time.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Each tour is different, and this one in particular can be defined as the tour of the jumps. We left the harbour warmly dressed in overalls. This time we headed further west, and it was a great success, since several gigantic blows could be seen in the distance. As we approached it seemed that the surprise was going to make us wait. We waited and curiously a little further away 5 white-beaked dolphins began to jump happily. We got nearer to see them up close and some were still jumping. While we were enjoying watching them possibly playing, another group of dolphins were also jumping on our left hand-side. There were about 7 in total. Suddenly, the surprise that we wanted to discover before popped up, it was a humpback whale! It was swimming calmly. Viewing its giant body and its manner of swimming relaxed and excited us in equal measure. We even got to see its impressive huge fluke. We continued the tour and two pods of white-beaked dolphins showed up, one of about 8 individuals and the other of approximately 5, some of the individuals of the last group were also jumping! If the views were amazing, when we returned to the harbour they became even more beautiful, it was like if the sunset caressed the views like a brush, painting them with pastel colours. As Louis Armstrong would say: and I think to myself ... What a wonderful world!
