CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: It was so sunny today that even with the strong wind it was not too cold outside. The landscape was wonderful and with such a good visibility the volcano Snæfellsjökull was clearly visible. We went toward Akranes during this tour. If the first part was chill and pleasant when we arrived in front of the fjord, the wind got very strong and waves were making the boat very rocky. After 20 minutes of rocky sea we found shelter and the tour became more relaxed. We went more in the north but we did not find any whale. It was late and we had to come back to Reykjavik, observing the many species of sea birds and the mountains. We unfortunately did not find any cetacean during this tour so we gave complimentary tickets to our passengers, hoping that we will be more lucky next time they come to visit us!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Elding : The wind had gone slightly down from the morning tour, and we started sailing off under a sunny sky. As we sailed closed to the coast to start with, we made a short stop by Lundey to admire a few of the breeding pairs the Atlantic puffins. Some passengers seemed really eager to see these cute sea birds, emblematic from iceland, and were delighted with the sight of the puffins flying everywhere around our ship. After this stop we sailed off in the direction of Akranes and then further out offshore, we saw some black legged kittiwakes, northern fulmars and terns on the way. Halfway through the trip, the wind had picked up, but the swell had significantly decreased from the morning. A few harbour porpoises were spotted by a few of the passengers but unfortunately we did not get more lucky than the morning, and no whales or dolphins were to be seen. We came back to the harbour after giving off some complimentary tickets, hoping that tomorrow will be a better whale day in Faxafloi bay !
