Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00, 10:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 19:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: our morning tour started with a fresh Icelandic air on our faces. With a bit of rain, we sailed out further away from Reykjavík, having fun spotting some species of seabirds on the way: Atlantic puffins, Northern fulmars and Northern gannets. After a while, some passengers saw something on the water, and we waited for it to come up again. It wasn't the last time that they saw a minke whale in this tour. They were very tricky to spot and we couldn't see them again, even though they saw the glimpse of it two more times. Coming back to the harbour, we expected to see something more, with our eyes wide open looking for them. However, we could not see anything else and we decided to give out complimentary tickets for the chance of seeing our Faxaflói stars again.

Report from Elding: We set sail on a fairly moody sea today, some people embraced the rollercoaster others got a bit green. We sailed for a bit before spotting a minke whale! This minke was quite elusive and didnt appear again. This happened a few times, twice the minkes appeared very close to the boat but then did not reappear. In the end we ended up giving complimentary tickets as not a lot of people managed to sea the whales.

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions were a bit better than this morning and thanks to the excellent work of our captain most passengers had a comfortable sailing. The weather was still difficult with a lot of wind coming from the south and rain. We explored south again and after a while went in the direction of Akranes much more north-west than this morning. We crossed many northern gannets, northern fulmars, puffins and common guillemots but we were unlucky with the whales. We looked around hoping to have a sighting until we had to head back to Reykjavik. We gave our passengers complimentary tickets to give them a chance to come back in the next two years in Reykjavik or in Akureyri.
