CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: A rainy sky covered Faxafloi this morning. Equipped in our overalls, some brave passengers still stood outside most of the tour to fully experience the Icelandic weather. As we ventured into the bay, we soon spotted a fast-surfacing minke whale, and not long thereafter a pod of 6 white-beaked dolphins. The dolphins surfaced frequently right next to the boat, so we were able to see the distinguishing features on their dorsal fins. Throughout the sighting, we also saw the occassional minke whale (in total three during the whole tour). Time had flown by, and before we knew it we had to go back to the harbour. During the way back we all warmed up in the heated saloon with our teas and hot chocolates, and arrived back to rainy Reykjavik.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: It was still rainy this afternoon as we sailed out of the harbour. That is a good thing that the rain does not bother these sea creaatures and we still have the opportunity to observe them in a rainy weather. After 40 minutes we observed our first species: harbour porpoises, with a pod of about 2 to 4 animals that passed us by really fast. We then continued our way, sailind between the waves, looking at the horizon. A minke whale was spotted really briefly before it dove down and never came back up again. We tried until the very end but unfortunately nothing appeared. We then offered our passengers complimentary tickets for them to come back on another tour. Unfortunately it is the luck of the draw, the sea is always highly unpredictable, but it is wild animals so it is how it should be.
