CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: It was freezing cold this morning but the weather was great with sun and calm wind. The swell was getting down during the tour making the trip pleasant. We started seeing a lot of birds in the distance when we also saw splashes on our right, probably made by dolphins. We went there but nothing appeared. We continued towards the birds and started seeing 3 pods of 5-6  white-beaked dolphins in an area with some that came close to us. We could see there white and grey body speeding under the surface coming under our boat. We stayed looking at the dolphins popping around us for a while until our curiosity pushed us forward in direction of the birds. In that active feeding area we spotted 3-5 minke whales that were feeding under the birds, coming up a couple of times before disappearing. We even saw one lunge-feeding under a flock of birds. After observing the baleen whales for a while we went more in the south have a quick look before we had to head back. We were excited to spot 2 blows coming from 2 humpback whales. It was Mariupol and Neila that we have seen many times this summer. They came right behind us and on our side like curious about our presence. Then took a bit more distance and one of them, Mariupol showed us its fluke in a strange spiraling fluke dive. Great end for a great tour.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We went out again with a nice sun warming us this afternoon. The mountains were beautiful with the first snow covering them. We headed directly where the humpbacks were seen this morning but we had no luck. There was less birds even though we still a active flock. We spotted a minke whale in the area next to it but it quickly disappeared. We moved toward the south and decided to change our direction towards the north and Akranes, were many dolphins were seen this morning. We could not find any dolphin there but a 2 more minke whales appeared in our way. We tried to see them but they were moving quickly and we could not re-spot them. Then our captain and passengers spotted a blow closer to Reykjavik. We went there a found the 2 same humpback whales than this morning, Neila and Mariupol together. They were calm, moving slowly, going for short dives. We still had the chance to see them going for a couple of fluke dives. When more boats arrived we took the direction of the harbour.
