Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

COVID-19: No restrictions are in place but passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised. Mask use is optional.

Report from Eldey: We had a stunning sunrise this morning just before sailing out. the swell had picked up a little from yesterday but the ocean was still fairly calm. After about an hour of sailing we saw a big blow and went to investigate. As we got closer we could see it was not only one but three humpback whales! They seemed to be feeding but one also did a peduncle throw! This is similar to when horses kick theyre hind legs up. They all went for a deeper dive and showed their fluke and as we were waiting for them to resurface we saw another big blow in the distance! Could this be a forth humpack whale or a big minke whale? In the end we decided to stay with the trio as the other one seemed to be travelling away. After some magical moments together we headed back to harbour.

Report from Eldey: The sea still had some whitecaps during this afternoon, but thanks to the big blows of the three humpback whales we were easily able to spot the animals early on in the tour. The three whales came right up to the bow, and circled the boat for a long time throughout the trip. Sometimes they showed up behind us, sometimes next to us, but almost always just a few meters away from the boat. This amazing sighting with Mariupol, Neila, and the third unknown individual showed us again the miracle of nature and allowed us to witness the connections between these incredible animals.
