NORTHERN LIGHTS CRUISE | 21:00

Report from Eldey: The forecasts indicated good chances to see the northern lights, with a Kp index of 3. Most of the sky was visible, spotted with stars and only partially covered by high clouds. However, the almost full mood moon created difficult conditions to see the auroras, while clouds restricted the observation of the sky above the horizon. While sailing around the islands of Kollafjörður we admired the Imagine Peace Tower from up close and the skyline of Reykjavik by night. As we were looking at the sky too see if some green would appear, we identified the constellations of Cassiopeia, Perseus, Auriga, and Ursa Major, and we recounted the myths connected to them. We waited patienlty, gazing at the city, at the panorama, the moon and the stars, but the northern light didn't show up after all, and we decided to offer complimentary tickets to our passengers, so they could try to observe the auroras from our ships another, luckier time.
