Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitizer is advised.  

Report from Eldey: It was a bit of a gloomy start to the day with fine rain but luckily very little wind. It did pick up on the journey home however but passengers came into the warm saloons and enjoyed a warm beverage that they purchased at the cafeteria. It was still quite dark at the beginning of the tour but in 20 minutes of leaving the harbour conditions brightened up and after another 25mins a humpback whale surfaced and we were extremely happy to see that it was a whale we knew very well called Neila. Neila was travelling fast but showed her tail many times and we got to see her very well. We also saw 2 different minke whales in the distance but a lot of the passengers didn’t see these and later on we also found a large scattered pod of about 10-12 white-beaked dolphins feeding. They were preoccupied but still we had a nice encounter. A chilly, wet but great morning tour.

Common guillemot, razorbill, European shag, Great cormorant, northern fulmar, black-legged kittiwake, black-backed gull, glaucous gull, herring gull, eider duck, long-tailed ducks.

Report from Eldey: This afternoon we sailed out in grey skies that set the mood perfectly for an adventure. It was raining and we all enjoyed our hot drinks as we got further into the bay. After getting far out we decided to turn into the bay and then spotted a blow - a humpback whale! As we were making our way towards it we also saw some dorsal fins much closer! A small pod of 4 white beaked dolphins! It looked like 2 adults with their calves. We got to see them a few times before they continued on their journey so we turned our attention to the humpback whale. It was the lovely Pep again, she came very close to us and we got to see multiple fluke dives which is always exciting. Eventually we ran out of time and had to head back to harbour.
