Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitizer is advised.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey:  Conditions were quite good today despite the strong winds (7-11m/s) from the East which we mainly felt on the way home. On the way out it was quite a pleasant sailing. We thought we would gain shelter by sailing to the south but the sea conditions were a lot better than expected and we could check out the areas that have been successful the last days. We were amazed to find hundreds of northern fulmars flying around but we did not see them actively feeding. We did see a couple of more active clusters that were more promising and we keep an eye on them with binoculars to see if we could spot any black backs. We were unsuccessful and carried on the sailing. We searched a large area with no luck. We sailed back still feeling hopeful but in the end we were defeated and offered all our passengers complimentary tickets in the hope they will have better luck on their next whale watching adventure with Elding.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We set out to sea, full of optimism in the hope of finding some amazing cetaceans in the afternoon, after an unsuccessful search this morning. Despite the strong easterly winds that continued throughout the day we found some shelter from the larger waves. We continued our journey into areas that have shown previous success of finding wildlife. Unfortunately, we did not find any cetaceans but we were joined by some beautiful birds including the European shag. As we continued to head back to Reykjavik everyone was still full of joy and excitement after a wonderful day at sea. All passengers were offered complimentary tickets so they can come back and see the fantastic cetaceans Faxaflói bay has.
