Today we are scheduled to be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00
  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: we had a super sunny day in the bay today and calm seas, with only some cold wind coming from the north chilling us. It was a super easy tour: as soon we left the harbor and passed Grótta cape we entered an area where 5-6 whales were swimming around and feeding. Between them 4 or 5 were fin whales, a fairly rare sight in inner Faxaflói bay, and 1 was a humpback whale! The passengers were as happy as us, as we were in a super productive area. At first it was tricky to follow any of them as they were diving often seeking krill and small fish, which seemed very abundant in the area today, as we also saw a lot of movement from many seabirds. We could see some fin whales lunge feeding, splashing around and one of them even pooping in front of us, very gracefully. As the time passed they seemed to get more relaxed, and following them started to be easier. We even got a better sight of a couple of fin whales (which were besties, always sticking together) right next to the boat and of the humpback in front of us. After an amazing morning, we saw we were running out of time and decide to start our way back, but extremely satisfied and happy!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We left Reykjavik on time with the sun above us to sail across Faxaflói with the chance to see again the fin whales of the previous tour. First spotted was a shy humpback whale , pretty far from us, busy feeding and traveling. After waiting a bit to see it again, we met 3 fin whales together, very relaxed, accompanying us for at least half an hour. Meanwhile other humpbacks were blowing all around us. We got closer with the boat so that all passengers could admire and take pictures of the 2 humpbacks, both swimming each side of the boat. We ended the tour meeting again the social group of fin whales but this time 4 individuals feeding together. Everyone has been very happy about the wildlife we met during this lovely and sunny day and we can't wait to spend other days like today!
