Report from Elding: This evening we sailed out under clear, dark skies which was great news. The kp index was predicted to be a 3, which means moderate activity. This is just a forecast so you can never know what you will get until the night. Already as we left the harbour we saw faint lights above us. These stayed with us for a few minutes and then faded but were quickly replaced by an arch on our left near Esja. This arch stayed with us the whole night, sometimes growing in strength and even moving! We eventually ran out of time and headed back to Reykjavik but could still see out arch on our homeward journey.
