 Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00, 12:00 and 14:00 Premium Whale tours and on our lovely vessel Eldey and Hafsúla for the 09:00, 13:00 and 17:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

COVID-19: Keep in mind that passengers and crew are asked to ensure their own hygiene and safety at all times. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and using a hand sanitiser is advised.   

Report from Eldey: Today we sailed out onto a moody ocean with clouds covering both sides peninsulas. After about an hour of sailing we found a pod of 10 white beaked dolphins. This pod seemed to be feeding as it changed direction a lot but also came so close that they were directly next to the boat. After spending some time with them we decided to head on and explore the bay further. As we did we spotted 1 minke whale. Though this was a fairly elusive one that vanished very quickly, so continued onwards with our adventure. The sun finally joined us and the wind dropped and as it did we saw another minke whale! We watched it for a few moments but eventually had to start heading back to harbour. On our way back we saw 2 more minke whales and lots of puffins.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out near the area where we had been in the morning. On the way we saw a few flocks of birds that were feeding which showed us that there was a lot of fish. We therefore kept looking out for any cetaceans nearby. We soon spotted a blow but were not able to identify that species because it didn`t show itself again. We proceeded our tour further out in the bay of Faxafloi. On the way to our first real sighting we saw three Northern Gannetts going for a few spectactular plunge-dives in a row. We later spotted a second blow that belonged to a humpback whale. It surfaced a couple of times before it showed us its fluke saying goodbye to us. It didn`t show itself again and we had to go back to Reykjavik.

Report from Eldey: This evening we sailed out with a moody sea and high hopes for cetaceans. As we sailed out we saw lots of Arctic terns and Northern gannets which were dive-plunging and showing off their skills. After about an hour of sailing we spotted a blow! We found a humpback whale! This individual was taking long dives but always showing the fluke when it went down. It was a very beautiful white fluke. While we were waiting for the humpback to resurface we saw another blow! Another humpback had joined the party. And then when we least expected it - a breach! As time had ran out we took this as the perfect end to our tour and headed back to harbour.
