CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: we had a lovely tour in the morning. The sun, hidden in between the clouds and the weak wind made everyone to stay outside, enjoying our Icelandic summertime. We spotted a minke whale in front of our boat and we waited for it, but we got our eyes on something bigger not far from us: a humpback whale! We decided to check this individual, but it was staying at least 10min underwater, so we continued our trip after taking a good look on it. We spotted another blow in an area full of many seabirds. This time, this whale spent 1min underwater, and with the bubbles that it was blowing around our boat, we found out it was feeding like crazy! We spent a while with it, and we could spot 2 more blows in the distance, of a pair of other humpbacks traveling together. When we thought that it couldn't get any better, a pod of about 12 jumping white-beaked dolphins caught our attention and we decided to check on them. What a great and active morning!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR I 10:00

Report from Hafsúlan:  What a great tour we had this morning. Not only was it a dry and sunny but the bay was teeming with life. We headed in direction of few other whale watching boats that were enjoying the presence of 1 humpback whale and as we got closer the other boats headed back to Reykjavík and we had that individual all to our selves - it took long dives but never raised it´s fluke. There was also an elusive minke whale spotted close to our boat. While we were enjoying the view another blow and a fluke was seen close to us so we eventually headed in that direction. It was another humpback whale who seemed to be traveling, we lost it for awhile but then it resurface along with 2 other humbacks. All stayed quite close to the surface, so we could spot them easily before they resurfaced for breath due to the whiteness of their flippers. One was blowing bubbles in circles but it never lunge fed so we were not sure what it´s intentions were. The other 2 stayed quite close to one another, lifting their flukes for dives but never stayed in the deep for long. They all seemed quite relaxed and we ended up staying with these individuals for more then 30 min. A lone minke whale surfaced as well.  It was an awesome sight and we saw no reason to leave them even though other blows were seen in close proximity to us. So all in all 4 humpback whales and 3 minke whales ( 2 of which I spotted but not sure our passengers did)

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR I 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in a very calm sea with very good visibility. Soon after we left the harbor we saw a minke whale that was probably feeding. It was very elusive so we decided to continue our search further out in the bay of Faxafloi. We spotted a blow in the distance where there were also a lot of feeding birds. We then approached. The blow belonged to a humpback whale. It was quite active and soon started bubble-net-feeding really close to our boat. In that area we saw a total of 4 humpback whales and 3 minke whales. On our way back we encountered an active pod of white beaked dolphins that also seemed to be feeding.
