Today we had to cancel all of our premium whale watchin tour but will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey and Elding  for the 09:00,13:00 and 14:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out from Reykjavik harbour in strong winds and mostly cloudy skies. White caps surrounded us, making it a bit difficult to spot activity from afar. Our tour started of keeping close distance to the northern shore, giving us some peace in the rough sea. As we got closer to Akranes we slowly made our further out in the bay. Soon enough we saw our first sighting. It was a blow of 1 solitary humpback whale that caught our attention. Luckily for us this individual was really playful, breaching not long after as we got closer. The show didn't stop there as the humpback turned on its back showing of it's pectoral fins and slapping its tail. Milla could identify the individual as Davy Jones 2 and he was social enough to come really close. 1 minke whale appeared briefly around us in the same area and Davy Jones 2 gave us some fluke dives, waving us goodbye before we headed back to Reykjavik.

Report from Eldey: The wind picked up in the afternoon but it didn't stop us from finding our favorite animals! We explored many areas, and we got to one in which we had many seabirds. Not too long after, we spotted a minke whale at least 50m away from us. This minke was predictable, surfacing several times and even giving us a beautiful rainblow with the nice sun that came out for us! At the same spot, other 2 minkes started popping up, as they were in different distances and going on different directions in a very short time. At the same time, we saw splashes not far from where we were and a pod of about 10 white-beaked dolphins joined the area. The juveniles present in this pod were jumping, spinning and the whole group started surfing together, taking advantage of the swell. What a great sighting! We went back home feeling the sun on our faces and enjoying the big amount of Atlantic puffins on the way.

Report from Elding: We sailed out in quite rough conditions the wind was coming north but that did not stop us from being excited about the whales we hoped to see. After some time we had our first encounter. We saw an elusive minke whale that seemed to be very shy so we continued our search further out. We were lucky and spotted a pod of around 10 white beaked dolphins that we could stay with for a while. When we again continued our search we spotted a big blow that turned out to be caused by a humpback whale. We all enjoyed this really close encounter and were happy and amazed on the way back.
