CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Today we sailed out to a bright sunny day with great visability, southern breeze and deep swells that upset few stomachs. Our first encounter happened about an hour in to our tour a blow was seen from a single minke whale. We managed to get close to it as it surfaced couple of times quite close to our ship before disapearing into the deep. During that encounter a small pod of harbour porpoises lurked around our boat for few minutes before disapearing as well. We headed a little further out to the bay in hopes to see a minke and pod of whitebeaked dolphins that had been spotted before by other boats but as we arrived non was seen. Heading back to Reykjavik harbour we spotted another minke whale and 2 harbour porpoises surfacing about 3 times.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 10:00

Report from Hafsula: This Sunday morning we sailed out with moderate swell and a little wind. The way out meant we were facing the swell so we had a few green faces on board. As we sailed out the skies cleared and we had blue seas and skies. After over an hour of sailing we spotted 1 elusive minke whale. This individual was a bit tricky to track and seemed to vanish into thin air - which is suprising for an animal that is 7-10m long! We sailed around a little further and longer in the hopes of finding a different species or another individual. We unfortunately werent lucky and then had to start our return journey back. Sadly we werent successful, so then offered complimentary tickets. This is so everyone can have the chance to come back for free!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in a sunny but choppy bay of Faxafloi. We wanted to check out an area where we had sightings on previous tours. We sailed around within that area and we finally spotted 4 harbour porpoises. They came up for just a few short breaths so we decided to look for something else. Soon we saw big splashes in the distance, most likely caused by a breaching minke whale but by the time we got there the show was over. Because we had bad luck with the sightings today we offered complimentary tickets.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR I 14:00

Report from Hafsulan: We sailed out in the beautiful afternoon, ready to battle the waves and determined to find whales. After heading straight out of the bay for a prolonged time, riding the swell up and down, we finally noticed a zone seemingly more agitated. With several fulmars leading us to it, we finally found a minke whale: this individual was travelling across our path and we had the chance to stay with it for several minutes. As we tried to find it again during its dives, another 3 other minkes surprised us throughout the tour, so we could all fully see what they are capable of. Finally, when heading back to port, we passed by a small pod of harbour porpoises, who just showed enough that some people on the boat got to discover our smallest cetacean species.
