CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Eldey: With the clearest skies and the sun shining on our backs, we sailed out this morning ready to spot anything and everything. The sea wasn't flat, but the swell didn't make any difficult for us to spot these animals. Our first encounter was with a minke whale, as we saw the blow in front of us. We got to see this whale a couple of times more before spotting something else not far from us. In an area with many Northern gannets plunge diving, we saw some splashes and we realized we had a pod of 8 white-beaked dolphins close to us. They were very playful, coming closer, bowriding and even surfing with the swell. Their acrobatic jumps got us amazed and busy until we spotted at least 3 other minkes in the same area. It wasn't all: another pod of white-beaked dolphins started jumping repeatedly for a long time, a bit far away from us. After spending a while with the ones closer to us, we started heading back to Reykjavik, but before we still spotted 2 more minke whales shining with the sun, and a pod of 5 harbour porpoises! What a great morning we had, enjoying these animals and the sunshine in the bay.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: we continued to have a very sunny day in the bay during our afternoon tour. The sun was strong, but the wind was still a bit cold. So we sailed out to spot and enjoy what the bay had to offer. Covering many areas, we got to one where we saw some Northern gannets plunge diving on the surface, and we saw a small blow that belonged to a minke whale, that was very elusive. We waited for it for a while, until we decided to explore other areas. Then, we saw another minke whale, that was also very unpredictable. We tried to cover other areas, but we couldn't find anything else, so we decided to give out some complimentary tickets so the passengers can get another chance of experiencing the magic of our bay once more!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Eldey: The sea conditions were extremely better compared to the morning tours, even if some little wind was still blowing. The sunny sky and the absence of white caps provided great spotting conditions as well. Within thirty minutes of sailing I spotted one pod of 4 harbour porpoises that crossed our route. They were quite fast but we could see them very close. Later on, we spotted 1 minke whale but very elusive. We tried to see it again but then we moved on another area where we saw many more harbour porpoises and 1 pod of 6 white beaked dolphins, jumping in the distance. Once we got closer to them they stopped having fun and turned into a chill mode. But we could still enjoy them very close to the bow. We saw another minke whale just passing in front of us and we managed to see it few times before heading back to the Old harbor. On our way back we couldn't end the tour in a better way: the pod of white beaked dolphins followed us and started jumping, giving us a great show! This was a beautiful gift from Mother Nature and this left all the passengers happy and grateful to be out in the ocean today!
