Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey and Hafsúla  for the 09:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 17:00 Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: We sailed onto moody grey bay today, brimming with anticipation for our adventure. After about an hour of sailing we saw a minke whale in the distance. This one was more on the elusive side so after trying to approach we decided to head further on to see what else was out there. It was a good decision in the end as we found a spot where there were 3 more minke whales. One was quite friendly and came up fairly close to the boat. The other two stayed a little further. We stayed here until we ran out of time and then headed back to harbour.

Report from Elding: We sailed out this morning onto a slighty moody bay with a little bit of swell. After about an hour of sailing we spotted lots of Northern gannets that were feeding. This is a great indicator that there is food around and something to look out for when whale watching. As luck would have it, the gannets proved to be a good spot to stop and we saw 1 minke whale. And then another and another. Some were a bit on the elusive side but we stayed in this spot as long as we could with the minkes popping up around us here and there. When time was up we ventured back ti harbour.

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in this afternoon, knowing the conditions would keep improving, therefore hoping the best to reiterate our mornings' sightings. From the start, as we left the harbour, a pod of 5 harbour porpoises greeted us with a surprising first sighing for our tour. They continued popping up during the tour and in total we must have seen roughly 10-20. This good omen led us to find, further out to bay, 5 minke whales. 2 of them roamed very close to us, for everyone to enjoy the view of their snout popping up and the sound of their blow. As we left these animals to head back to the harbour, we encountered another 2 pods of harbour porpoises, finishing our tour with great content for all.

Report from Eldey: This gloomy afternoon we set sail once again to try and find some cetaceans. After about an hour of sailing we found our spot that got us so lucky on the previous tours. We arrived and immediately saw a minke whale. This one was quite elusive so we continued on to find a pod of 5 white beaked dolphins! We could see their splashes in the distance but when we got closer they too vanished. The animals were proving tricky but we continued on as with nature you never know what will happen! We saw a lunge feeding minke whale in the distance and made our way towards it. This too was a shy one so we did a little circle to see if we could spot something else. As luck would have it we found another pod of 8 white beaked dolphins! This one came right up to us and was splashing and playing about. Finally we found some social animals! They stayed with us for a while and were swimming all around the boat and bow-riding! We stayed as long as we could before heading back to harbour.
