Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: The day was quite grey but there was finally barely any wind at sea and just a few long waves. As we started our sail we first saw 2 harbour porpoises passing very very fast by the lighthouse. Then we continued our sail hoping to find something when we came accross a pod of 3 white beaked dolphins. The dolphins were very fast moving, not that easy to have a proper look at and mostly in the distance. We stayed for some time with these dolphins seeing them a bit coming here and there, and slowly from 3 dolphins they became 5 small fins we could see splashing around. After some time we moved exploring other areas as the dolphins were not being very cooperatives. We then sailed around for some time and eventually started to make our way back to the harbour unlucky. As we approached Reykjavik we decided to offer the passengers complimentary ticket due to the poor sighting. Hopefully our passengers will come back and enjoy a tour with more cooperative animals.

Report from Eldey: The sea got better with a very calm wind this afternoon but still some swell making the boat roll. We had a very quick glimpse of a harbour porpoise in the start of the tour, but the animal quickly disappeared. We sailed and spotted a few common guillemots and razorbill showing their ability to dive. We arrived in an area further out where everything happened. We spotted a minke whale first that did not show up again. Then a pod of 6-7 white-beaked dolphins that was very far away, and before we could try to get closer, a humpback whale appeared. We could see the animal surfacing and showing its beautiful white fluke. It was going for quite long dive and moving but we still manage to see it diving 3 or 4 times before we headed back to the harbour.
