We will be going out on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: It was slightly sunny as we started our sail out in the bay. There was a bit of wind and waves from the previous stormy days but we had warned everyone about the state of the seas and had advised to take sea sickness tablets beforehand. In the distance there were a few blows. As we started to get closer the blows now appeared even further with this individual moving very fast (read this afternoon's diary to find out what this individual was when we saw it later). We then reached an area where we saw some white beaked dolphins. It was a pod of 4 white beaked dolphins, they were quite friendly, came to the boat a few times, even jumped around. We managed to take some pictures of this nice moment to offer as a memory to our passengers. We came back in the waves, but it was quite a smooth ride, so much that no one got sea sick. We made it back to the harbour, with some sun to warm us up in the cold icelandic weather.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 1300
Report from Eldey: We set off this afternoon in calmer conditions as the wind had dropped. The temperature seemed to drop too as it got colder. Once we got out into the bay a bit we saw a huge splash! It belonged to a humpback whale that breached. It was probably the same one producing the big blows this morning we didn't manage to see. This individual was accompanied by 5-10 white beaked dolphins. The dolphins regularly jumped out the water and we could use them as a sign for where the humpback would be. The humpback usually surfaced 1-2 times before arching it's back. Whilst this was going on there was also 5 minke whales in the area. As time was running out we ended on the best possible note. The humpback whale went for a fluke dive so we can now identify it. What a fantastic tour, yay!
