Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00  and 14:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: It was by a fairly calm morning that we started our sail out in the bay. There was a tiny bit of wind but definetely not so much since the water was super flat all the way through the ride. After some time we spotted 2 fins of white beaked dolphins, unfortunately this pod was not in the mood so we passed our way after they disappeared. We then crossed path with another pod of 5 to 10 white beaked dolphins, these ones much friendlier and displaying for us different behaviors such as bow riding, jumping, socialising and traveling. We observed this pod for at least 20 minutes before we had  to leave due to our code of conduct and the arrival of much more boats in the area. We then explored a bit more the bay and found another pod of about 5 white beaked dolphins, these ones also were a bit curious and came quite close for a few minutes before they probably got enough and decided to leave the area. Today was definetely a dolphin day ! We then headed back toward the harbour, in the wind but still with very good flat seas.

Report from Eldey: we sailed out this afternoon with weak winds coming from the Northeast, and beautiful colors in the landscape of Faxaflói bay as the day was starting slowly to end. After about one hour sailing, we spotted a tall blow in the distance, and we could check it showed its fluke when going for a deep dive, giving away that we had a humpback whale in the area! This whale was spending about 6 min underwater, and when it popped up, stayed next to the surface for a while, as we could predict it coming up by the huge and white pectoral fins. We stayed with this one for a while, admiring the beautiful fluke, and then we decided to explore other areas. It was when we spotted another dark back, this time from a minke whale! It was a very calm individual, but it was always continuing your way going a bit away from us, so we saw it for a couple of times more until we decided to start our way back to the harbour. What a lovely afternoon!
