Today we will be operating on Þruma RIB for our 10:00  and 14:00 Premium Whale tour and on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: what a lovely morning we had in Faxaflói bay! With the sun slowly rising, few clouds and a weak wind, we set sail ready to explore the bay. About 40 min after we left the harbour, we saw a couple of dorsal fins in the distance, that belonged to about 4-5 white-beaked dolphins, travelling around. Since they were a bit elusive and continued their way, we continued ours, until we got to an area with many birds, and it didn't take long until we saw a blow in the distance! We had a humpback whale, beautifully showing its fluke and spending an average time of 4-6 min underwater. We enjoyed this one for a while until we saw another humpback whale a bit far out! We decided to check it out, at the same time that we saw another one very far out in another direction. Getting to the second humpback, we also had a minke whale around us! This minke popped up in front of our boat until it disappeared again. We got to see the humpback a couple of more times and then we decided to come back to Reykjavik, very pleased about the weather and the sightings of the morning!

Report from Eldey: We went back into the bay in this sunny afternoon. The wind was cold but not strong and sea conditions were still excellent. We went in a similar area and quite quickly found one of the humpback whales from this morning. We could see the fluke many times, the whale going for frequent but short dives. It was moving and changing direction probably feeding around. We enjoyed a lot observing it until we decided to explore a bit more the bay to avoid to crowd the humpback. We went further west but its only during our way back that 3 white-beaked dolphins appeared jumping in big splashes. When we arrived they were calmer and swimming close by. They were not easy to observe after a few minutes and we were out of time so we went back to the harbour.
