Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: It was a very very windy morning today as we headed out with many whitecaps breaking. But this weather change from the last few days didn't change our lovely start to the tours. Within 15-20 minutes we had found Flak the humpback whale. This was combined with an incredible sunrise behind Reykjavik too. We got to see Flak from very close as he swam around between Skarfabakki harbour and Videy. After seeing him very well we decided to carry on. Our journey took us to the area we saw some other cetaceans yesterday but they appeared to have moved on as we did not see them again. We then travelled back towards Flak. He was now a bit further out, closer to Engey. Here we saw him coming up very regularly and going for beautiful fluke dives too. At one point he even defecated! We then ended the tour with him coming very close before showing us the fluke one more time. It was a really good tour despite very strong winds.

Report from Eldey: This afternoon tour was still very windy. After a very quick sailing we found Flak the humpback whale still very close skarfabakki. At the same time we spotted the head of a seal that quickly disappeared. We followed the humpback whale that seemed to be feeding, going for short dives. It was a lovely sighting with an animal that was easy to observe. It even had a little spy-hop once, putting part of its rostrum outside of the water maybe trying to see outside of the water. We left going around Lundey and Esja trying to spot other species. We saw many birds such as common guillemot and razorbills, cormorants and gulls but no cetacean. We came back to see flak a few more times before getting back to the harbour.
