Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 09:00 and 13:00  Classic Whale Watching tours. Make sure to dress appropriately for the tours as it is always colder on sea than on land.

• CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00

Report from Eldey: We went directly out in this cold and cloudy morning with not much light. We tried to explore further areas in the south-west of the bay meanwhile the sun was rising. A strategy that worked since we spotted a pod of 6-8 white-beaked dolphins. They were probably feeding since they were swimming fast and changing direction near big flocks of birds. There was large flocks of active gulls with two northern gannets showing of there very large wing span. And other big rafts of European shags so it seems that there was a lot of fish in the area. We lost and found the dolphins a few times and could get a few good sightings with them before coming back. We checked between the islands to see if we could find the whale that was there those last couple of weeks but without success this time. We went back to the harbour admiring the beautiful snowy mountains.

Report from Eldey: This afternoon the sun was up, and we sailed into Viderjarflak. The mountains were absolutely stunning and snow-covered and low clouds were coming in, making it a very moody and eary afternoon. There was quite a strong Northerly wind keeping us quite fresh and awake! There was a lot of food/fish activity and lots of birds in this area so we it was highly likely there would be some more life enjoying the snacks around. As we sailed we spotted 6 seals, one of which was jumping completely out of the water! After a long time searching we spotted a blow and the dorsal fin of a humpback whale. We didn't know if it was Flak as it was a very brief sighting and it then vanished. After extensively searching the area in unison with the other whale watching boats, the whale seemed to elude us and we handed out complimentary tickets.
