Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.

Report from Eldey: Our journey started with a calm sea and a swift wind blowing in our faces coming from the mountains. Thanks to our cozy overalls we were able to sustain the cold temperature and out we went! Not even 10 minutes into the tour, we saw 2 humpback whales feeding near the harbour or Skarffabaka! One of them was Pongo and it went for a quick nap while we watched the other one going up and down while feeding on Sprattus sprattus, tiny sardines! This active whale was doing fluke dives, lunge feed, and also some rolls. A pleasure to watch and also to photograph! We stayed for a while until another whale-watching boat came and so we went out in search of more animals. We scanned the shores of the vicinity of Reykjavík and there it was, in the sun glare border, we had another humpback whale lunge feeding near a small cove! This one had some scars from previous entanglements, so it was a cool whale. It kept milling around us until we had to go back to the harbour but not before we spotted another humpback near Engey, also resting. An incredible and unforgettable whale-watching experience!

Report from Eldey and Hafsula: What a lovely weather we had today! When we left the harbour it was sunny and there was almost no wind! We sailed for around 10 minutes and there it was...our first humpback whale of the day! There were many boat around it and because we do not want to bother our beautiful wildlife, we kept sailing looking for other individuals! Just a few minutes later we met another humpback whale that was very busy feeding! It was moving around very fast and had some scars over its body. We saw a total of 4 humpback whales today. What a lucky tour!
