Today we will be operating on our lovely vessel Eldey for the 9:00 and 13:00 Classic Whale Watching tour. Make sure to dress according to weather, as it is usually colder at sea than on land.
- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00
Report from Eldey: Today we had another taste of summer in the middle of March! The sea was as flat as a lake and off we went to find our favorite animals. We didn't take long until we found our first whale, we saw the fluke at the distance and we got excited. It was a humpback whale, going for a beautiful fluke dive in the early morning. Every time this whale, - that we saw it was Frodo, our friend! - would come up to the surface, its blow would stay there for a while, showing was how weak the winds coming from the North were. We spent a while with Frodo, watching it coming to the surface to feed and sometimes even rolling at the surface! We love to see this pink belly, and today it got us smiling from ear to ear seeing it again. After that, we decided to check other areas, since other boats started to come, we went close to Lundey and Esja mountain, with our eyes sharp. However, as we couldn't find anything else, we came back to Frodo and then he was even more active, sometimes coming quite close. We enjoyed the sun on our faces during the whole tour and the sightings of Frodo and then we came back to the harbour after. Great way to start the day!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: Our afternoon started with perfect conditions and sunny skies. After a short ride we found a humpback whale quite close to shore lunge feeding! We were quickly able to identify this whale, it was Frodo once more! While we were still enjoying Frodo's company an eagle-eyed passenger spotted a breach of a minke whale, probably feeding as well! We decided to leave these whales and sailed out to try to find something else, following the birds for clues to spot different species of cetaceans! We were able to find 2 harbour porpoises swimming around and feeding close to a flock of birds! We then slowly head back to Reykjavik harbour and enjoyed the sun!
