CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Hasfula : We left the harbour this morning under a beautiful sunny sky, although the weather was still quite chilly. As we navigated Faxafloi bay, we were thrilled to encounter a large pod of white-beaked dolphins of about 20 individuals. They were accompanied by herds of arctic terns flying and feeding, indicating that the dolphins' presence may be due to an abundance of fish under the water. After a while, we left the pod only to find another one of about 15 individuals a few moments later. To our great pleasure, some of the dolphins came remarkably close to the boat, offering our passenger an unforgettable spectacle. On our way back to the harbour, we spotted a minke whale in the distance nut we unfortunately did not have the time to get a closer look. We arrived back to port still under blue skies after a beautiful morning at sea.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: We set off again full of excitement after a great morning. The sun was shining and the wind had dropped so the swell reduced too. This made for good sailing conditions for us. About 45-50 minutes into our trip we saw a huge flock of birds feeding. This incompased many species including black backed gulls, Arctic skuas, Atlantic puffins, Northern gannets and Northern fulmars. It was crazy. Then right underneath it, a minke whale! This whale came up quite a lot and was even lunge feeding a bit too. It was so cool to see all the birds feeding right on top of this whale. After a bit we carried on and very quickly we saw our second species. It was a pod of 12 white beaked dolphins including some juveniles. There was also an individual with a very distinct dorsal fin as it was bent over at the top. We watched them come very close to us and enjoyed it a lot. Then as we started to head home the wind increased a huge amount but we still made it back without too much movement.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 17:00

Report from Hafsulan: Once again we set off in good conditions. As the wind had increased a fair amount we decided to start off taking shelter near the islands off the coast. We were rewarded very quickly as we saw another minke whale. This minke was amazing! It breached and lunge fed for us. It was so cool to see this individual so active. It was feeding and changing direction rapidly but we still managed to follow it for quite a bit of time. We then moved on to not disturb it too much and went to see some puffins on Lundey. We got to see quite a lot of them flying around as well as some on the island. Then we carried on but didn´t manage to spot anything else. But this was okay as we had one of the best minke sightings already so everyone was very very happy.
