CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Another day, another fantastic 9 am tour!  We faced the waves today during our search, moving into the interior of Faxaflói Bay, where we knew that whales had been sigthed in previous tours. We initially spotted a blow to our left side, but it was from a whale that already was being accompanied by another boat. So, to avoid disturbing the whale, we continued our search for other animals. We didn´t have to wait long though, since less than 15 minutes later, we came across a pod of around 10 white-beaked dolphins. These were very active dolphins, with many of them doing multiple, continuous breaches and being bold enough to speed up towards our boat to investigate us. The dolphins enough managed to bring smiles and happiness to most of our passengers, but the ocean still had more for us. In the middle of the dolphins, a humpback whale suddenly emerged from among the waves! What proceeded, was almost half an hour of a very chill humpback whale socializing with the dolphin pod. Eventually, we left the animals to keep our disturbance at a minimum and continued our search. Before the end of the tour, we came across another pod of dolphins and one more humpback whale. Suddenly, this humpback breached twice, very close to our ship, completely surprising our passengers and crew alike.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey-  After battling a choppy morning swell, we set sail once again, this time greeted by calmer seas. Spirits were high as we ventured out, eager to discover the wonders of the ocean. Just 35 minutes into our journey, the excitement began—our first humpback whale appeared, a sight that brought cheers from everyone on board.

But the adventure was just beginning! Only five minutes later, a second humpback emerged in the distance, followed by a third, making it a trio of these majestic creatures. The day seemed charmed, and our good fortune continued.

As we sailed on, 20 minutes later, we were treated to the delightful sight of three white-beaked dolphins, their playful jumps captivating us for a solid five minutes. Their energy was contagious, and everyone was on their feet, soaking in the moment.

Then, just when we thought the day couldn’t get better, we caught a glimpse of a Minke whale, swift and graceful, as it surfaced briefly. In total, we were thrilled to have encountered three of the 4 species that call this bay home.

On our way back, the joy of the experience lingered, with passengers eagerly chatting with the crew, asking questions about whales, dolphins, and the seabirds we’d seen. It was clear: this was another successful whale-watching tour, full of unforgettable moments and the magic of the sea.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 19:00

Report from Eldey: Indredible whale watching today! It took as a bit to get to the whale watching grounds, but once there, what a joy! We were welcomed by, first, a big number of white beaked dolphins, around 10 of them, all of them being very active and playful. Next we found the humpback whales, and so many of them! They were everywhere, we could see blows all over the place. Possibly around 7 individuals. Some were very close to the boat, and gave quite the show, rolling continuously. One was interacting with the dolphins, and the people were delighted. It was a very successful tour.

Birds species seen today include

Atlantic puffin, Arctic tern, Northern gannet, northern fulmar, common guillemot, black guillemot, herring gull, black backed gulls, eider duck, black legged kittiwake, arctic tern
