CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING TOUR I 09:00

Report from Eldey: What an incredible day out on the water! The weather was absolutely gorgeous—sunny with a light breeze, and the sea was calm enough to make for a smooth ride as we set out on our whale-watching adventure. After about 20 minutes, excitement buzzed through the boat as we spotted our first blow—a humpback whale! This majestic creature was busy feeding, diving short and quick while being surrounded by diving Northern gannets and Arctic terns, all competing for a taste of the same fish. We decided to keep exploring and soon enough, another blow appeared on the horizon. This humpback was taking longer dives but decided to surprise us by coming in really close to the boat, giving everyone an up-close and personal encounter. The excitement on board was contagious! As if that wasn’t enough, we moved on and struck gold with not one, but 2 more humpbacks! These two were hanging out close to each other, and to everyone’s amazement, we witnessed one of them lunge feeding—an absolutely breathtaking sight! The joy and excitement on board were off the charts. Finally, it was time to head back to the harbor, but not before soaking in the incredible memories of an unforgettable day. Everyone left with huge smiles and stories to share!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 1300

Report from Eldey: We sailed out in sunshine and admired the beutiful scenery of Faxafloi bay. Very soon we spotted 3 blows close to each other and decided to approach carefully. There were 3 humpback whales that were all feeding. We got to see different feeding behaviours: Lunge feeding, rolling around, belly side up and also very short surface sequences with a lot of direction changes, so they were probably busy feeding below the surface as well. It was a great tour and we got to see about 14 individuals and 5 of them quite close to our boat. In between the humpback whle encounters we also found a pod of about 10 white beaked dolphins that also came very close to our boat

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING TOUR I 17:00

Report from Eldey: Our tour started very promisingly, and was amazing until the end. Right when we were leaving the harbour, our captain informed the guide that a couple of whale blows had been seen very close to Reykjavík, which motivated us to start the search immediately after leaving the harbour. And indeed, soon after leaving the harbour and crossing the islands of Akurey and Lundey, we came across 2 humpback whales feeding. This group of 2 then became 3 and then 4 humpback whales, dispersed in the area around us. We spent a few minutes with them, very close to the coast, and with amazingly shiny weather, but then moved on further into the bay, looking for more whales. This search was fast, as we then found 2 other humpback whales. These were lunge feeding and even breached less than 50 meters from us! On the way back to Reykjavík, we found another group of 2 humpbacks, and we spent some time with them while observing further humpbacks blow away on the horizon. Truly a tour filled with more whales than usual!

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING l 19:00

Report from Elding- We started sailing with a very beautiful weather and sunny day, very close to Reykjavik we have been able to see one humpback whale, we barely made to talk about the introduction when we were surprised by an area full of birds and one humpback whale feeding and giving quite a view for all of us that we enjoy every bit of it; after we decided to keep sailing and find more adventure at the open sea so after 20 minutes of sailing we managed to see 2 whales doing breaching, quite a view from far however when we got closer they can of went away, however our spirits where high and with the beautiful sunset on our side we where determined to find more beautiful whales.

We came across 2 humpback whales which one from the middle of no where did a full breach beautiful view with amazing sunset it was quite a magical moment and after this we kept sailing and found another feeding area where  group of 2 then became 3 and then 4 humpback whales, dispersed in the area around us which added by white beaked dolphins, that was absolutely a full experience over there. On the way back to Reykjavík we where left observing further humpbacks blow away on the horizon with amazing Midnight sunset, what a beautiful view and activity of the Bay today.
