CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING ┃ 09:00
Report from Eldey: We set sail this morning into moderate waves with heavy clouds overhead. After a bit of searching We found a pair of humpback whales! They were travelling the bay so we stayed with them for part of their journey. We then moved onwards to find a second pair of humpbacks! First they were feeding, going on nice short dives, lifting their fluke nice and high. With their bellies full, they then decided to go for a nap, side by side. We enjoyed the sight of these resting animals until it was time for us to go home again and conclude our morning out at sea.

Report from Hafsulan: Sailing out this morning with a lot of rolling waves, we expected a tough time to go further out the bay to find our whales. Luckily enough, venturing towards the South were many seabirds were grouped, we got to have a great sighting: spotting altogether 4 humpback whales, we stayed with a trio of them for over an hour, as they logged/slept for the whole time. Undisturbed, they rested calmly at the surface, allowing us to see them easily for the whole time. As we were about to leave, they all suddenly woke up, and decided to fluke dive, with one even rolling with its belly up, slapping its pectoral fins a couple of times before diving down in the depths, a great way for ut to end our tour.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: We headed out on a rainy day with choppy seas but we were still excited about what lay ahead. After a while we spotted some blows in the distance! As we approached, they revealed themselves as 2 humpback whales. They displayed their beautiful flukes and got so close to the boat. Meanwhile, a small pod of white beaked dolphins jumped gracefully in the distance! Our journey continued and we stumbled upon another humpback whale. This one was quite hard to follow so we carried on. Eventually two more popped up, alongside a minke whale. We stuck by them for a few sightings and then we headed back to the harbour. What an adventure!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 15:00
Report from Hafsulan: Heading out again this afternoon, the weather was against us, with heavy rain flow and increasing wind. But, we knew of good sightings further out, and we were sure that the whales would be more than entertaining. We started by seeing a minke whale, passing meters away from our boat. Later on, we had he chance to see 6 humpback whales, with many blows all around us. These individuals, many of them juveniles, kept coming up and down to feed, showing their flukes multiple times. This was a plentiful trip, with enough whales for all to see. We head back through the rain, knowing that we got to find great entertainment in Faxafloi Bay once again.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 17:00
Report from Elding: The rain had stopped but the sea was still fairly choppy. Motivated by today´s sightings so far though, we sailed out. We First encountered a humpback whale, going on moderately long dives, but each time with a nice and high fluke. We then got distracted by some splashes in the distance, belonging to a pod of around 6 white-beaked dolphins. They were rapidly travelling towards us and some of them came very close checking us out! Eventually they moved on, and so did we. We then ended up in a spot with 6 humpbacks spread out. we managed to get closer looks at 3 of them, 2 were feeding in the same close vicinity so we could enjoy close looks at both whales at the same time. The third one was clearly a very big individual, moving back and forth rapidly as it was feeding, and it even treated us to 2 lunge-feeds! This encounter then ended up being our last one as it was time for us to start heading home again, leaving behind this spectacle.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 20:30
Report from Elding: It didn’t take long before we noticed an area with noticeably increased bird activity—always a promising sign of food, and in turn, whales. Sure enough, we soon encountered three humpback whales in the area. Two of them were actively feeding together, treating us to the spectacular sight of bubble net feeding. The third humpback lingered nearby, surfacing occasionally and offering a more relaxed presence. Adding to the excitement, two elusive minke whales were spotted in the same area—brief, shy appearances, but thrilling nonetheless. Just as we thought the action might be winding down, a massive splash in the distance caught our eye—a breaching humpback! We made our way toward the commotion and were rewarded with several close-up breaches, an unforgettable finale to a remarkable day on the water.
