CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Eldey: Sailing out this morning, the wind and waves with us, we were lucky to start spotting things very quick, not realizing it was only the beginning of the tour. As we first saw small dorsal fins pass by, then bigger blows in the distance, our tour was a never stopping roll of sighting after sighting, with 7 minke whales and over 20 humpback whales spotted in the horizon, with 9 of them seen from up close ! Travelling, resting, lunge diving, rollng, breaching, bubble netting, you name it we had it ! With minke whales roaming around, Northern gannets and puffins flying around, we stayed in the feeding frenzy throughout the tour, to see these humpback whales entertain us non-stop, up until we got back to Reykjavik.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 11:00

Report from Hafsulan: We headed out under heavy rain and challenging winds, determined to spot some cetaceans despite the conditions. We had gotten word, that there were quite a few whales around, so we headed towards the area where they were last seen. As we approached, we spotted several blows and some flukes in the distance. We were treated to quite a show, multiple humpback whales lunge-feeding in the area! We followed a large group of 4 individuals continuously fluke diving, and lunge feeding near the surface. We even got to see some bubble-net feeding! Beautiful lines and spirals of bubbles all around us, and the synchronized group of 4 lunging at the surface, kindly pointed out to us by the huge flocks of seabirds! What an encounter! We then turned our attention to another pair of humpbacks, which were joined by a small pod of playful white-beaked dolphins! We got to see some leaps and even some bow-riding behaviour from these charismatic dolphins. And of course, we had a couple of shy minke whales making brief appearances in the background amidst all the action. Satisfied with our sightings, we headed for the harbour, seeing some of the playful dolphins leaping in the distance as well as some huge splashes from the active humpbacks, breaching and peduncle throwing amidst the feeding frenzy.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00

Report from Eldey: What an incredible tour, this afternoon, through the wind and rain ! Spotting over 20 humpback whales and 6 minke whales, we spent the tour going from whale to whale, some alone, some in pairs, some pectoral slapping, some lunge feeding, we had it all ! The gem of the show was 4 of them bubble net feeding and lunge feeding all at the same time, meters away from us. We even finished with a small pod of 3 white beaked dolphins, but at that point all passengers were back inside, full of whale sightings and completely soaking from the rain !

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 15:00

Report from Hafsulan: We bravely headed out onto choppy waters in heavy rain and strong wind. We were rewarded for our strong will and determination, when we quickly spotted a trio of humpback whales rolling playfully ahead. We spent a couple minutes admiring this small group, before our attention turned towards some huge splashes in the distance. A pair of humpbacks breaching! Naturally, we made our way over there to get a closer look, and were treated to some very persistent breaches, tail slaps and head slaps. When this energetic pair started to calm down, we headed back over to the trio, and spotted yet another solitary humpback on the way. We found ourselves completely surrounded by at least 8 humpback whales feeding in all directions. Absolutely unforgettable experience.
