CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00

Report from Hafsulan: Today we had a typical Icelandic autumn with a lot of rain. Well, lucky that the whales are already wet! We first started going around the islands next to the harbour, since on the last days we found some whales around them! After giving that area a chance, we headed into the bay. The visibility in the open bay was also better, and after sailing a bit further, we spotted 2 blows together, finding 2 humpback whales swimming side by side! They were not alone, a pod of about 10 white-beaked dolphins was also in the same spot, interacting with the humpbacks! For this reason, the whales were rolling and showing their bellies and pectoral fins, being quite playful! It was very nice to see them all so active. We then, after spending a little more time with this group, we headed to Reykjavik, since we were running out of time. Amazing encounter!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: The typical Icelandic autumn weather of the morning was still going strong this afternoon. Luckily, the whales made it well worth our struggle as we were treated to an incredible show! We found a pair of humpback whales with one of them being incredibly active! This individual (cutely nicknamed Ægir by our captain Otto as the whale reminded him of his own son) was breaching, pec-slapping and tail-slapping all over the place, seemingly moving from boat to boat to show of his tricks! This spectacle went on for quite some time and so we took in all of it with great awe! Eventually, this whale did calm down and so we moved on, eventually æaking our way back to port.
