CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: The weather was awesome as we went out in the morning. Almost no wind and the sea as flat as a duckpond. First we went around the islands in search for the whales that we spotted in the area during the last days. But as it turned out, they had left the area and so we went out to the bay to see what we could find. After quite some searching, we spotted a small pod of around 6 white-beaked dolphins. They were traveling fast but we got a good look at them before we headed back towards Reykjavik. On our way back we spotted something jumping out of the water in the distance. It turned out to be another pod of 15-20 white-beaked dolphins, including a lot of young one from this year. This playful bunch got really close to our bout and swam right underneath us several times.

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: The weather already gave us an incredible start for our tours as we had flat seas, no wind and a warm sun overhead. Rather quickly out the harbour we found a minke whale. It was going all over the place between the coastline and the islands Viðey and Engey. We stuck with it for a while as it was going on its journey, most likely in search of food. Eventually, we gave this whale its well deserved rest and went out a bit further to find a pair of humpbacks! They were sticking really close to the coastline in front of mount Esja, making an amazing backdrop! For a while, they moved rather calmly, going for nice fluke dives, but then they suddenly turned and surfaced only a few meters in front of us! Top make things even more incredible, one of them did a very unexpected full breach as well! A second super close surface came quickly after and on these incredible high notes we decided to end our tour and sail happily back to the harbour.
