  • CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00, 13:00

All whale watching tours are on schedule today from Reykjavík! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 09:00

Report from Hafsúlan: As we were leaving the harbour this morning, we were met with a beautiful sunrise painting the sky pink and orange. We had bright, clear skies throughout the tour with the sun warming our faces despite a little wind. We first sailed towards Viðey island in case the whales we have been seeing the last couple of weeks were still so close to the shore. However, with no signs of them, we continued our search. Not long after, just north of Engey, we spotted a humpback whale! This individual was very relaxed at the surface and gave us really nice fluke dives. When it was under the water, however, it was swimming around a lot and changing directions. This probably meant it was feeding and also meant that it was always a surprise where it surfaced. We were lucky though and had a few close encounters before we continued our journey. After searching the waters closer to Esja, we hadn't seen any other cetaceans. Another whale watching boat re-spotted our original humpback so we headed back there for a few last sightings before we sailed back into the harbour. A beautiful morning on amazingly calm seas!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Hafsulan: The wind had picked up a bit since the morning nut the sea conditions were still great. Right out the harbour, we spotted a minke whale, frantically going all over the place as it was most likely feeding in the area. We stuck with it for a while and managed to get a few very up close encounters with this whale. We then moved onwards to find a pair of humpback whales! They were diving rather long but treated us each time to a nice fluke dive, showing off their majestic tail fins They were travelling between the islands and so we went along with them, until it was time for us to part ways and get back to port. A little surprise during this tour was also the tiny harbour seal that curiously passed by our boat!
