- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
Today's whale watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule. Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 09:00
Report from Hafsulan: As the moon set on our left and the sun rose on our right, we set sail. After not too long we spotted the blows of two humpback whales! This pair was really relaxed and as soon as we pulled up, they showed us their beautiful whale tails. When they resurfaced, they were right next to us on the right hand side of the boat. It was amazing to see the white pectoral fins clearly through the surface of the water as they traveled next to us. After multiple surface sequences, we then got a double fluke dive. After a great encounter, we decided to see who else we could find. While we had some seabirds, it seemed like our humpback pair were the stars of the morning. Thus we went back to admire them one more time. With another double fluke dive, we waved our humpbacks goodbye and headed back to port. What a great way to start the morning!

CLASSIC WHALE TOUR l 13:00
Report from Hafsulan: With cloudy skies and a slight breeze, we bundled up and headed out, excited to see who was around this afternoon. We were not too far before we spotted the blows of two humpback whales! One individual started off with a powerful tail slap. This pair then showed us their flukes, going for a deeper dive. When they resurfaced, they were relaxed on the surface of the water, which was perfect and allowed us to view them for a longer duration. We could see their white pectoral fins as they same alongside us. It seemed that this pair then wanted to play tricks on us, as they next appeared behind us! As we got closer our pair was nice and relaxed, and it seemed like they were sleeping. After a great viewing, we decided to look around and see if we could find anyone else. While we saw some more seabirds, no more cetaceans were spotted, so we went to see our humpbacks again. When we arrived back to our humpback whales, we also found one minke whale nearby! It was great to be able to see both species in the same area. This allowed us to really see how quick and slim the minke whales are compared to humpback whales. After a multiple surface sequences from both species and some excellent fluke dives from our humpbacks, it was time to wave our whales goodbye and head back to port. What a great way to end the day!
