- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Today's whale watching tour from Reykjavík is on schedule! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Hafsulan and Eldey: Two boats went out today, Eldey with the regular 13:00 open tour and Hafsúlan with a charter. It was a rather cold day but mostly still so it was easy to stay outside throughout the tour. We sailed out towards the islands off Reykjavik and scanned the sea around them. Then soon we came across 2 humpback whales which happened to be old friends named Radar and Banana. Like Thelma and Louise and Butch and Sundance, they were always together, always within meters of each other, Radar diving first with a higher raise of the fluke and Banana following suit with a lower raise. Hopefully they will stick around for more of this is exactly what we are keen on. After multiple close surfaces and an amazing viewing, we waved the whales goodbye for now and went to see who else was out today. After a bit of a rocky journey, we spotted 4 harbor porpoises. After a few surface sequences, our porpoises moved on and so we also continued. With no one else out in the bay, we decided to see our humpbacks one more time before heading back to port. Just outside the harbor we spotted one more elusive harbor porpoise as well. What a wonderful tour!
