CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Today was a very misty day in the bay. We could only see around 150m ahead of us, decreasing the chances of seeing any whales. But the sea was very flat and calm and we never give up, so we went out very slowly to do not miss a thing. After passing by many seabirds, we spotted 2 harbour porpoises cutting the surface with their tiny dorsal fins and this made us hopeful! Not a long time after, one of the other boats called us to help us out saying that they found a whale! Love the partnership. So off we went and getting there very slowly to do not disturb it, the whale was indeed there. It was a lone humpback whale, sleeping and logging on the surface. By the markings on the dorsal fin (and later confirmed with its fluke), we identified Banana, now without its buddy Radar next to it. Banana was super calm, everyone was very quiet, almost holding our breaths. The whale went for a deep dive and we spotted a harbour seal nearby. Then after a few times more seeing the humpback, it popped up right next to our boat! Glad we were perfectly still. This whale was taking it sweet time on the front of our boat and the surface was so calm we could see details of the marking on its body and rostrum. Very lovely and misty tour!
