CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey. With both the moon and sun shining and sunny skies, we bundles up on this chilly afternoon and set sail. It was not too long before we spotted the blow of one humpback whale! This individual was a focused feeder, and after a few surfaces went of a deep dive. While we were waiting for our humpback to resurface, up popped three grey seals, scattered around the boat. With the birds feeding around us we could tell that there was plenty of fish around and awaited our cetacean. This humpback seemed to taking very long surface dives, and so we decided to continue on and see who else was around. Shortly after, we spotted a pair of humpback whales! We had found banana and radar, who have been wintering close to port for a couple of months now. They seemed very curious as they surfaced right in front of our boat! They were so close that those viewing from the bow could smell their fishy breath! After multiple surface sequences, and a double fluke dive, we waved them goodbye and continued. That was when we spotted the blow of another solitary humpback whale! After multiple surface intervals, and a fluke dive, it was time to wave our whales goodbye and head back to port. What a wonderful afternoon!
