CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00

Report from Eldey: Today we had a flat sea and lower clouds covering most of the sky, but many gaps gave the mountains a beautiful light, creating an amazing background for us with the whales there! We went out and, about 2 minutes (!) after leaving the harbour, we spotted our first whale! A lone humpback whale that was having a feast! Multiple times we saw it lunge feeding, splashing around. It even came up close to our boat, as we watched it quiet and still while the whale was super active. We then decided to leave it, but 5 minutes after, there was another whale closer to the island of Engey. We didn't get a good look of this one, as it simply disappeared, spending a longer time under the surface. So we decided to let it be and go to other areas. We spotted about 5 harbour seals on the way, very curious and cautious. When coming back to check the whales from the beginning, we saw one of the humpies from the beginning. This was one the one that we didn't get to take a good look at it, but this time it was very predictable, swimming very close to Engey and making many fluke prints before it would come up, allowing us to track it easily! We even got a light snow while waiting for it. Then, closer to the harbour, we spotted the hungry whale we saw first, and now we could identify it as Banana! It was still feeding, close to flocks of birds. We then said goodbye to this one and went to the harbour as our time was running out.
