CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 13:00
Report from Eldey: The wind was still blowing strongly today so we warned our passengers that we might have some rough seas this afternoon. In the end it turned out not to be so bad and it was worth the brisk air for what we saw! Just after passing Engey and Viðey islands, we spotted our first blows and as we got closer, we saw that it was our same pair of humpback whales that we've been seeing for the past week or so. Banana and their friend were calmly swimming and diving around us, showing off their tails many times. Then a few times they came super close to the boat - they were less than 5 meters away at times! We could see their whole bodies through the water! After some other whale watching boats arrived, we decided to move on and continue our search around the other islands. However, we couldn't find any other cetaceans so we stopped back with our original pair on our way to the harbour. This time they were even closer to the shore and had started to log at the surface between dives, showing just how relaxed they were. Unfortunately, we then started to run out of time and started our journey back to dock.
