- CLASSIC WHALE TOUR | 9:00, 13:00
Today's Whale Watching tours from Reykjavík are on schedule! Remember to dress according to weather and feel free to borrow our thermal overalls if needed!
CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 09:00
Report from Eldey: We went out with flat seas and no wind, which are really nice conditions. Also just 15 minutes in the tour, we found 2 humpback whales, close to the island Viðey. They were very close to the shore and one of them did a spy hop, to check us out. The other one is a well known whale for us, since he's been around for a few months now. Its name is Banana. So we were watching them logging for a bit and then they swam a little further away from the island. All of a sudden one of them was breaching out of nowhere. It was great. We watched them a few more minutes and then left, to see if there's something else to discover in the bay. We were lucky, there were lots of harbor and grey seals around, checking us out. We also found a huge group of around 15 harbor porpoises ! They were surfacing a lot and swimming all around us. They disappeared after a while, so we also headed back to the whales. We enjoyed their company for a little longer, saw their beautiful flukes and then headed back to the harbor.

CLASSIC WHALE WATCHING | 13:00
Report from Eldey: We set sail into a faint drizzle that faded away rather quickly, but virtually no wind and flat seas. We quickly found the same 2 Humpback whales again, our local celebrity Banana and their friend were going around feeding in the same area as they were before. They were also surrounded by 6-8 harbour seals, presumably feasting on the same abundance of fish. To top off our trip, we also spotted the common dolphin again, right outside the harbour and after it came to check us out curiously, we ventured back into port, concluding our day out at sea.
